Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul have Yauza
gate (in Kulishki) - Orthodox Church of the Moscow City
Pokrovsky deanery of the diocese. Compound of the Patriarch of
Moscow and All Russia, the Serbian Orthodox Church Compound. The
temple is located near Taganka, the Central Administrative
District of Moscow (Peter and Paul Lane, home 4-6.). The main
altar is dedicated to the Mother of God "The Omen", a chapel in
honor of the Apostles Peter and Paul, in honor of the Kazan Icon
of the Mother of God.
Kulishki - the historical name of the area, situated at the
confluence of the Moskva River and Yauza. "Kulishki" (correct
kulizhki) called nevyrublennye forest areas (according to other
sources kulizhki - forest after felling), which covered the
ancient high hill that separates the two rivers. In honor of the
monastery founded in the name of St. John the Baptist is a place
also called "Ivanovo hill." Ivanovo hill crossing the river
crustaceans, which in XVIII century, was hidden in a pipe. Peter
and Paul Cathedral, 1882 godVpervye on stone church on the site
is mentioned in 1631. Temple had the name "Peter and Paul high
that hill." Preserved evidence that in 1693 the Patriarch of
Moscow and All Russia in the church burial service Adrian Vass
Stroganoff.
The building of the present church was built in the years
1700-1702 with the blessing of Patriarch Adrian. The main altar
of the new church was dedicated in honor of Our Lady of "The
Omen." Old throne of the Apostles Peter and Paul, was placed on
the north side of the aisle in a warm winter. The temple was
made in the Moscow baroque style. In 1731, in the southern part
of the temple was built a chapel in honor of the Kazan Icon of
the Mother of God, from that time the temple was three-altar. In
1748 the church was badly damaged by fire, but was quickly
restored by the means of the congregation. In 1771, built a new
three-tiered bell tower. In 1812 the building of the temple have
almost painless experience while looting and fires, but the
rectory and church buildings were burned.
In 1874, by imperial order was granted by the Serbs Compound
Church of Saints Cyrus and John Solyanka and the objects in her
building, but in 1918 the courtyard was liquidated by Soviet
power, and the church itself was demolished in 1933. Compound
Serbian Orthodox Church was revived in the Church of Peter and
Paul in 1948 with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch of
Moscow and All Russia Alexy I, but for political reasons
farmstead has been unable to start their activities. In 1999,
according to the decree of His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and
All Russia Alexy II, the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and
Paul, was converted into a patriarchal farmstead, which was
re-opened an office of Serbian Orthodox Church. Now Peter and
Paul church is a symbol of the spiritual brotherhood of Serbian
and Russian Orthodox churches. |
